HUSKISSON'S END

OVERVIEW
This is an ‘OO' gauge diorama depicting the scene on 15th September 1830 during the opening of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway. The event is remembered for a fatal accident that killed MP William Huskisson. Mr Huskisson had stepped onto the track at Parkside to greet the Duke of Wellington. Seeing the oncoming 'Rocket' he attempted to climb back into his carriage but panicked and fell onto the track in front of the locomotive. It was the first recorded railway death.

The layout, which measures approximately 4’ by 1', was constructed by club members Tom McKee and Steven Pegg.

TRACK
There are two parallel tracks using Peco code 100. A shuttle is used to propel the locomotive up and down.

MOTIVE POWER
The layout is suited to Stephenson's Rocket and associated stock.

OPERATION
Gaugemaster analogue transformer with shuttle.
